Sustainable Solution Description
As an international industrial producer operating globally, Fabbri Group is deeply involved in the debate on sustainability. We believe that the packaging industry plays a key role in protecting the environment and preventing food waste. We’ve been operating in the fresh food packaging market for more than 70 years, and "preserve without waste" is our motto, core value and ultimate goal. We work with fresh produce processors and retailers, providing solutions that cover all food sectors (meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy products, fish, delicatessen, etc.), and we are committed to offer safe, competitive, innovative, and effective packaging solutions on a daily basis, ensuring that food is adequately preserved using the minimum amount of packaging materials. That’s why we invest 5% of our yearly turnover in R&D. Among our bioplastics films, Biobased Star Film and Nature Fresh are worth mentioning. Nature Fresh is the new certified compostable cling film with minimal impact on the environment. Being a bioplastic, Nature Fresh combines its biodegradability characteristics with the properties of transparency, elasticity, breathability and mechanical performance of plastic materials. After use, it can be sent to organic recycling through the flow of industrial composting, according to local rules on waste collection, avoiding the long and costly processes associated with the selection and recycling of post-consumption plastics, as well as the waste-to-energy treatment of undifferentiated waste. Nature Fresh has been already produced in hundreds of tons and tens of thousands of film reels, with which millions of packages have been put on the market. Its monochrome printed version has been certified for commercial compostability by BPI (ASTM D6400 standard) for North America. Fabbri Group is now developing a new compostable solution also for the MAP packaging sector.
